I can't believe some of y'all were happy to go to the 25-30 age group! There must be a different breed of runners in your areas because I need you to check out the age group results from the 10K I ran on Saturday....
Yay! I came in second! If I had known 1st was less than a minute ahead of me, I could have pulled out a little more push that last mile.
Umm...yeah. I can't compete with people who run almost 7:00 minute miles. Especially when they are able to run 6 consecutive 7:07 miles.
Maybe I'll have some kind of speed epiphany when I turn 25. I doubt it. I'm not really into aiming for specific times right now, but I could see myself really getting into that and training for speed at some point. Especially if I had a competitive running partner.
Any of y'all really get into speedwork and drastically drop your times? What age group are you terrified of or overjoyed about?
Wow, those are some killer 25-29 year olds.
ReplyDeleteI think you need to make friends with these speed demons and train with them!! :D
ReplyDeleteThat is fast! I'm sooo slow, usually 11 minute miles, 10 minute miles in a great run. Let me warn you.... it keeps getting faster the older we get, not sure if now that I'm in the 40-45 group and the groups get smaller with only fast runners entering races or what. Don't worry, just run against yourself and have fun!!!
ReplyDeleteMy goal is to still be running when I'm 60+. Hopefully then I'll win some prizes!
ReplyDeleteI would love to be going into the 25 - 29 age group!!!! Then again, I would love going into the 50 - 55 age group also......... ha
ReplyDeleteI"m happy to hit that 40+ age range (in a little over 2 years). Not sure why. I guess because I still wanna be running when I'm 40.
ReplyDeleteI want to be running when I am 60! That is the group I would love to be in. Run your race and don't worry about ages. You're a runner no matter your age group.
ReplyDeleteI'm very happy to be in the 50+ group and leave those 45-49's to compete with each other. Some of them are very fast! Guess the grass is always greener on the other side. :)
