Just to let you know- this blog is no longer active. I'll be keeping up my 101 in 1001 list until its completion, but will not be writing new posts. You can read the post below if you want the long version. Thanks for the journey to all my friends in the blogosphere!

I think I'm in love...

...with my long runs.

When I was marathon training last time, long runs were a huge, daunting challenge. A big question mark, because I didn't know what to expect and if I could make it.

This time, since I know my legs are capable of it, I don't fear double digit runs. I crave them. I'm ridiculously excited about them. Like having-running-dreams-the-night-before excited. Like popping-out-of-bed-unprompted-by-the-alarm-clock at 7:25 excited. Like running-around-(mostly)-giddy-for-2-hours-and-43-minutes excited.

It's ironic because I sometimes fail to muster up the enthusiasm or energy for even a 3 mile run on a week day. I guess it just doesn't have the same glamour.

16 miles down yesterday! I've got 5 and 9 during the week and then 18(!) on Saturday.

What does your week look like? Anybody else in love with the long run?

  1. You rock!!!!

My week is nuts. But it's how I like it. I can count 11 meetings already for work this week, 2 spin classes, a 3 mile run and a 4 mile run, 2 swim sessions, a 5K and some strength training. Ha! Oh, and book club, lunch with my mom, happy hour with co-workers, dinner with our siblings, a meeting at church....ayiyi. I could never do without caffeine :)

  2. Way to go!!! I am hoping that this week brings me 40 miles...I start off so strong and then I get tired toward the end of the week....probably because I run at 4:30am....I am in love with the long run too! It is just great to unplug and run! Oh and then the times when you can join a friend....it rocks!!!

  4. Me too, I'm also in Love, and it could almost be with you...
(don't worry I'm not stalking you)
I saw your blog in the side bar of a blog I follow, and just had to find out what you were in Love with. Then I went on and read a whole bunch of your posts and now I have to talk to you...
Number 11 in your 101 things?
every day for 275 consecutive days, that is insane, I might not have a 0 week in over 10 years, but I always take days off...
12, 13, and 14 can all be easy, I bet you can even go sub 4 for the marathon. you just need to follow through with this new found love of yours.

Good luck (I might even pop in from time to time to see how you are doing)
